ACTIVITIES
Ozark Lakes Region PCA members gather on a regular basis to share their passion for Porsche automobiles. Social Activities include monthly dinner meeting, often involving fun drives to interesting restaurants.
Weekend day trips might include tours of area wineries or other attractions within a days drive. Members frequently organize unplanned, impromptu, spur of the moment activities for a drive down a twisty highway. Whatever the activity, the common link is our passion for Porsche’s. Many of our members enjoy participating in driving events.
While the Ozark Lakes Region does not have a ‘home track’, members regularly participate in HPDE (high performance drivers education) events at nearby road courses, including Hallett, Heartland Park, and Mid America Motorplex. The PCA DE program is designed so that participants can improve their driving abilities and acquire a better understanding of vehicle dynamics and driving safety. Participants will experience first-hand the capabilities of high performance autos in a controlled, closed-course environment and acquire skills that will enhance safer vehicle operation in all driving situations.
The Ozark Lakes Region occasionally conducts autocrosses, depending on the availability of suitable parking lots. Autocross is a sport of trying to navigate your car through a defined course of pylons, usually on a large parking lot, faster than your competition. Autocross courses are set up using soft orange traffic pylons which will not damage your car. Autocrosses are run at speeds usually between 20-65 MPH, usually in 2nd gear. Autocross is a “performance driving event” and a safe way to learn how to drive your car at its limits,
Technical sessions are occasionally held for members that enjoy working on their own cars. Our members routinely gather to assist each other with brake fluid flushes, brake pad swaps, and other basic maintenance.
The National PCA staff organizes the annual Porsche Parade. Parade is the “big event” Porsche Club’s annual national convention. Parade has a potpourri of activities as club members from all across North America come together for this once a year extravaganza to participate in a week of competitive events, to socialize and enjoy their cars, with seminars and tours adding to the variety. For many club members, Parade is their big vacation for the year. It provides them with an opportunity to see new parts of the country as well as visit with PCA friends that they only see once a year, at Parade.
